BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

Dr. David Canedy grew up in New York State trusting Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at the age of 15. He is a graduate of Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina. He earned his B.S. degree in Accounting in 1979 and his M.A. degree in Pastoral Studies in 1982. He was also honored with a Doctor of Divinity degree from Maranatha Baptist Bible College in 2009.
Dave and his wife Nancy were married on December 15, 1979. Nancy also grew up in New York, saved at the age of 7, and is a graduate of BJU.  She was an elementary school teacher for three years before devoting her life as a homemaker and pastor’s wife. The Canedys have four children: Amy, Jennifer, Joshua, and Emily. Mrs. Canedy home-schooled their children for 11 years while on the mission field and is again home-schooling Emily at this time.  Nancy enjoyed teaching the ladies’ Sunday school class for many years and leading the ladies’ ministries in the churches where they served. Nancy enjoys teaching and counseling ladies as the Lord allows.
The Canedys have been part of the Marquette Manor Baptist Church family since 1982. Dr. Canedy served as Assistant Principal (1982-84) and as Youth Pastor (1984-89).  He was ordained to the gospel ministry on June 6, 1984. Some of the Canedy’s greatest joys in the youth ministry include mission trips with the teens, and seeing many from the youth group serving the Lord around the world today.
In 1989, the Canedys yielded to the Lord’s call to the mission field of the Maritimes of Canada. With Marquette as their sending church, they served the Lord as missionaries for 11 years under Baptist World Mission. During those years, Dr. Canedy served as missionary pastor of the Stewiacke Valley Baptist Church in Upper Stewiacke, Nova Scotia (1990–96), and Grace Baptist Church in Moncton, New Brunswick (1996 to 2000). While on the field, he also served as board member and treasurer of the Forest Glen Bible Camp.
Through unique circumstances the Lord called the Canedys home to pastor their home church. Dr. Canedy served as Senior Pastor of Marquette Manor Baptist Church for nine years from 2000 to 2009. Along with his pastoral ministry, he also had the joy of serving on the boards of Baptist World Mission, as treasurer; Illinois Association of Christian Schools, as vice-president; Camp Joy; and the Association of Independent Baptist Churches of Illinois.
Once again, with Marquette Manor Baptist Church as their sending church, Dr. Canedy answered God’s call back into missions in 2009. He is currently serving as Deputation Director with Baptist World Mission. Their ministry is that of serving missionaries, pastors, and churches for the cause of worldwide missions. Dr. Canedy is responsible for representing BWM to churches and colleges and for overseeing the application, training, counseling, and progress of the deputation missionaries as they prepare for their field ministry. He also serves as Field Administrator for USA Church Planting.  Dave especially enjoys his preaching ministry, challenging God’s people about the cause of missions. The Canedys are currently on deputation as well, raising support for their ministry with BWM. Join them in prayer for the Lord of the Harvest to send forth laborers into his harvest.
